$1,000 given to NEA Food Bank, officials say help is still needed

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT)-  The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas recently got a much-needed boost for their program.

The food bank received funds from the Arkansas Community Foundation totaling $1,000. The grant will be used to benefit their Core Food Distribution Program in Greene County.

Christie Jordan, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas said, "This core food distribution program where we work with different manufacturers and different food facilities and growers to get food into the food bank to support not only our agency network, but all of our programs is really the core of what we do."

And while this grant money is needed, Jordan adds that they also still need a lot of help. Right now, 5,000 people visit a soup kitchen or food pantry each week in the Region 8 area. Next week, on November 13th, the Fill the Food Bank Food Drive will take over the Kroger's parking lot accepting donations.
