Reopening set for Batesville poultry plant

Posted: Updated:

BATESVILLE, AR (AP) - Ozark Mountain Poultry is preparing to reopen a former Pilgrim's Pride chicken processing plant in Batesville.

A ribbon cutting is set for Friday and work at the plant is to resume Monday.

The plant will employ about 250 people and Ozark Mountain says that number is expected to grow when production expands.

Pilgrim's Pride announced in August it intended to stop work at the plant. Rogers-based Ozark Mountain acquired the plant this month.

Ozark Mountain CEO Ed Fryar is to be on hand on Friday, as is Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Grant Tennille.
