Family, friends set to remember western NC soldier

MARSHALL, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A fallen soldier from Marshall, NC, will be laid to rest Friday morning.

The funeral for SPC Jason Carlisle Shelton is at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Reverends Craig Shelton and Anthony Fox officiating. His full military rites burial will follow in the B.E. Shelton Cemetery.

Shelton, 22, died on Oct. 27 in a training exercise in Germany while on active duty, according to a representative of the Patriot Guard. 

Shelton was flown into Greenville-Spartanburg Airport and then a procession will bring his body to its final resting place in Marshall.

He is survived by his wife Heather Ball Shelton, his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
