Laurens man found dead in NC is 'suspicious,' police say

SOUTHERN PINES, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A Laurens man who was found dead in an eastern North Carolina town is considered suspicious, according to police.

Southern Pines police are investigating 54-year-old Robert Burns' death after he was found by a resident.

Police said Burns was in town since Nov. 1 as part of a work crew and was found dead along West Iowa Avenue about 10:50 a.m. Monday.

Police are still waiting on the autopsy results to determine how Burns died and so far have no other details about the investigation to release.

Southern Pines, NC, is about 200 miles northeast of Laurens, SC, and is not far from Fort Bragg.
