Hinds County honors veterans

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Veteran's Day is being celebrated around the world Monday, and the tradition continued with a wreath laying ceremony at the Hinds County Courthouse. A gun salute and taps were played for the Mississippi military men and women.

The monument bears the names of all Hinds County residents who lost their lives in combat. Family, loved ones, veterans and local leaders gathered for the event.

"Today is a special day, said Hinds County Supervisor Robert Graham. "A day that everyone should remember our veterans; the army, navy, air force, marines, the men and women who gave their life and made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we enjoy today. One of those freedoms is being able to have a ceremony like we're having today."

Veterans day is a day to thank and honor all veterans who served honorably in the military.
