LINCOLN COUNTY, TN (WAFF) -

The murder trial for a man charged in six murders in Tennessee and Alabama is underway in Lincoln County, Tennessee.

The trial against Zakawanda Moss began Tuesday with gruesome details and testimony from three crime scenes.

Moss is one of two men charged in the 2012 killings. He listened carefully as the district attorney, Robert Carter, laid out the case against him, saying they have proof Moss and Henry Burrell intended to murder the victims and tortured them.

The DA said the suspects went from house to house searching for drugs and money from known drug dealer, Warren Crutcher, who connects all the victims.

According to witness testimony, investigators found Amber McCaulley at the first scene. She was found with a gunshot wound to the head and she had been dragged into the garage. Chabreya Campbell, who was seven months pregnant, was also found in that home with her hands tied behind her back in a bathtub. She had been strangled to death, and her 1-year-old son, Rashad Ragland, was stomped to death in the home on Huntsville Highway.

At the second scene, the body of Jessica Brown was found. She was also strangled in a tub.

At the last scene, a wooded area in Madison County, Warren Crutcher's body was found. He was shot three times in the back of the head.

The victims' families were brought to tears as they listened to the testimony.

There are 12 jurors and four alternates, 11 are women. That may be crucial since the case involves mothers and a toddler who were killed so brutally.

The trial could last a while. There are close to 150 potential witnesses the state could call to the stand, and hundreds of pieces of evidence.

The trial of the other man charged in this case, Henry Burrell, is set to start in February.
