The Citadel's Brian White earned CRONS Southern Conference Freshman of the Week the league announced on Tuesday. White becomes the first Bulldog freshman to earn a SoCon weekly award in program history.
White averaged 24.0 and 10.5 rebounds en route to earning all-tournament team honors at last weekend's All-Military Classic hosted by VMI.
He began the weekend with a 21-point, nine-rebound, two-block performance in his collegiate debut at VMI. Against the Keydets he knocked down 10-of-18 (55.6%) from the field and hauled in a team-high five offensive rebounds.
The following night, in the consolation game against Army, White came through with game highs in points (27) and rebounds (12). He became the first Citadel freshman to record a double-double since John Brown in 2008-09.
One of two Citadel players to convert all eight free throw attempts, he was instrumental in leading the Dogs to a 20-for-20 performance at the free throw line, one shy of the program record for free throws made without a miss, set against College of Charleston (Jan. 13, 1987).
