JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- The Jonesboro Fire Department said they may be rolling out through the night as temperatures fall.
Assistant Fire Chief for the JFD, Alan Dunn, said they often see a spike in the amount of fires they cover the first really cold night. Dunn said that's because of a lack of maintenance in heating equipment. "A lot of times it's people turning on their heaters for the first time and they have smoke or lint burning off from the heat exchanger in the furnace," Dunn said.
Dunn said to practice regular maintenance on all forms of heating appliances, including furnaces, fire places, wood stoves and even space heaters.
