LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -

Two men have been arrested for the armed robbery of a local store, according to the Lincolnton Police Department.

The robbery happened on Monday, November 11, at approximately 8:15 p.m. at the Times Turn Around convenience store on South Laurel Street.

Police say two men wearing hoodies with bandanas covering their faces went into the store and demanded money from the clerks. One of the men had a black handgun, and the other was holding a knife.

One man held the clerks at gunpoint and stood in front of the counter, and the other, who had the knife, went behind the counter with the clerks and forced them to open a cash register and give him the money out of it.

After getting the money, the man with the knife turned around and took several packs of cigarettes off of the shelf. Both then left the store and ran across the road toward Tait Street.

Detectives responded to the scene and began interviewing witnesses while officers from the Lincolnton Police Department and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office searched the area for the robbers.

One Lincolnton Police Officer, who had recently finished advanced training that concentrated on the tracking of individuals, picked up the path of the men and he began tracking their movements using the training he had received, police told WBTV.

After about 40 minutes, the Officer was able to locate the duo in the woods. They were sitting on the ground with a black BB pistol, bandanas, three packs of Newport cigarettes, and $106 in cash lying on the ground near them.

The men, identified as Dustin Logan Martin Ensley, 23, and Jacob Paul Sain, 19, were then arrested without any further incident.
