Williams Baptist College defeated Philander-Smith College 81-70 on Tuesday night, where the Lady Eagles found themselves with four players posting double-doubles on the night's performance. The game was played in front of a large home crowd at Walnut Ridge.
Williams jumped out to a 41-24 lead at the half, using a big advantage on the boards (53-36) to gain a decisive edge throughout the contest. WBC would also stop a late PSC rally to hold on to the victory.
The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Michaela Thompson, who posted a 17-point, 11-rebound performance. Sharonda Brabson added 14 points and 11 rebounds, Cheyenne Childers led the team with 18 rebounds and an additional 13 points and Tieara Burks rounded out the offensive attack with 11 points and a team high 10 assists.
Williams is now 3-0 on the season. The next game for the Lady Eagles is scheduled for Thursday, November 14, at Crowley's Ridge College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the game will be at Paragould, Ark.
