Boxes and about $2,000 in donations raised at toy drive

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT) – Members of 3 organizations at Newport High School are working together to help the children in St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Students in HOSA, JAG and Internship have been holding a toy drive. They have managed to raise 3 boxes of toys and almost $2,000, so far.

Kathryn Hopkins is a Science and Technology teacher at Newport High School and said this has been a valuable experience for the students that she hopes will be life changing.

"It's been a heart changing experience to see everybody come together and work for something that's so important and to work and help these children that need it the most," said Hopkins

Tuesday is the last day to make a donation.

28 students will be hitting the road at the end of the week to deliver the toys to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
