Sheriff: Man steals van, checks, and credit cards

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A man faces several charges after he stole a van and credit cards Sunday morning.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff's Department, David Allen Lewis Jr., 30, was arrested for stealing a work van from a job site at Baxter County road 500.

He was also accused of stealing a ring and credit cards from a home on the 700-block of county road 508. Investigators found Lewis at the Executive Inn in Mountain Home after the credit card company said the stolen credit card was used there.

Deputies and Mountain Home police officers found the stolen van in the parking lot. When officers walked into the room they found Lewis with three other people. Deputies said inside the room, they found the stolen credit cards, personal and business checks and items bought with the credit cards.

The Baxter County Sheriff's Department charged Lewis with residential burglary, theft of van, three counts of theft of credit cards, and theft of ring and checks.

The Mountain Home Police Department charged him with four counts of forgery.

Lewis had his bond set at $30,000. He is being held without bond on a parole violation and a bond revocation.
