Sheriff: Man told deputies he stole truck because he was homeless

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – On Sunday, A Jordan man was arrested after he ran out of gas with a stolen travel trailer hooked up to his truck.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, a travel trailer was stolen from a storage building on Highway 62 in Mountain Home.

At 2 p.m., the owner's son told deputies he saw the stolen trailer at the Lowe's in Mountain Home. After he was arrested, Travis Armistead, 30, told deputies he stole the trailer because he did not have anywhere to live or stay.

Armistead was charged with a felony of theft of property. He was taken to the Baxter County Detention Center and had a bond set at $10,000.

He is set to appear in court on November 21.
