WBC Volleyball earns post-season honors

From Williams Baptist College

The American Midwest Conference announced post-season honors for volleyball last  Tuesday and Williams Baptist College garnered two All-Conference selections, while six Lady Eagles were selected to Academic All-Conference team.

Kaillie Ralston, a sophomore from Denton, Texas, was a Second Team All-Conference selection for her performance this season. Ralston led WBC with 212 kills and 31 service aces.

Harley Strayhorn, a sophomore from Marion, Ark., was selected to the Honorable Mention All-Conference team. The middle-blocker finished her year with 174 kills and 87 blocks, which ranked second in both categories for Williams.

"It's always rewarding and gratifying to see your players win these honors. I'm happy for Kaillie and Harley. That's two sophomores that will be returning next season," stated Head Coach Eric Newell.

Six players were selected to the Academic All-Conference team. Maddie Belk, Bailey Layman, Emily Umbaugh, Shelby Upshaw, Jameea Ward and Makenna Wiedower each received Academic All-Conference honors.

The All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-Conference are selected by a vote of coaches in the AMC. To qualify as an Academic All-Conference selection, players need to have been at the college for at least a year and have a cumulative G.P.A. of at least a 3.0.
