Kyria Seymour of Jonesboro died Saturday, April 19, at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. A memorial fund has been created for an 11-year-old girl who died after she became trapped beneath a pipe in a water-filled ditch for 20 minutes.

MULDRAUGH, KY (WAVE) - A man is in critical condition with a gunshot wound after he shot himself at almost the same time a Kentucky State Police trooper fired at him.

According to Trooper Jeff Gregory, spokesperson for the Kentucky State Police Elizabethtown post, the shooting happened at a home in the 700 block of South Main Street in Muldraugh. Gregory said troopers were sent there, along with deputies from Meade County and officers from Muldraugh, Brandenburg and West Point, to check the welfare of a man living there.

Shortly after they arrived, Gregory said a shot was heard from inside the house.

After police took cover, Gregory said John L. Price, 31, came out of under the porch holding a gun to his head. The man then started waving the gun around and fired a round. Almost simultaneously, Gregory said a KSP trooper also fired his weapon.

Price was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The name of the trooper has not been released.
