Oran animal rescue damaged in Sunday's tornadoes

ORAN, MO (KFVS) -

An animal rescue shelter in Scott County suffered extensive damage in Sunday's storms and now the animals need to be rescued again.

Julie Adams is an animal foster parent for an organization based in New England. She lives on a farm in Oran that was devastated by the tornadoes. Now, because of the storms, she can no longer rescue animals.

She hopes that changes, but for the time being, Adams is searching for homes for the 40 dogs she was taking care of before the storm.

"All my livelihood has been damaged to some extent so we just think it's pretty important that these dogs move up to the New England states and get in foster or homes right now," Adams said.

Paws New England, the organization Adams helps, said they are working to evacuate the dogs. Right now, they are trying to find foster homes and raise money to transport them.
