Man who fled from, shot by Trumann police charged

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - A man who fled from officers and pointed a gun at them in Trumann has been charged.

Jacob Brown was charged with the following out of the Trumann Police Department:

  • Aggravated Assault (4 Counts)
  • Possession of a firearm by certain persons
  • Possession of a defaced firearm
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Fleeing
  • Simultaneous possession drugs and firearms
  • Criminal Trespass
Brown also has a warrant out of Poinsett County Sheriff's Office on failure to register as a sex offender, according to the sheriff's office.

Judge Ron Hunter issued a $250,000 cash bond and a court date of December 20th, 2013 at Poinsett County Circuit Court.

According to Arkansas State Police, Brown ran from officers on Oct. 22 and pointed a gun toward them while they were searching for him.

Trumann Police Department Lieutenant Gary Henry shot Brown during the incident. Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington deemed the shooting justified.

Henry is back on active duty.
