Hardy man arrested for stealing motorcycle

LAWERENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Hardy man was arrested after being spotted on a stolen motorcycle in Missouri.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson said a Ravenden man reported that his Harley Davidson motorcycle had been stolen out of his shed.

The motorcycle was reported stolen nationwide. A Missouri State trooper stopped the stolen motorcycle and Missouri State Highway Patrol contacted the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.

The man on the motorcycle was identified as George Nelson, 45, of Hardy. The trooper asked Nelson why he had taken the motorcycle. Nelson said he took it because he needed to leave Arkansas quickly.

Nelson was arrested Thursday and transported back to Arkansas were he faces breaking and entering, theft of property and criminal trespassing charges.

Arrangements were made for the motorcycle to returned to the owner.
