SEARCY, AR (KAIT) - A man armed with a weapon and dressed in women's clothing was arrested by police in Searcy Thursday night.

According to Searcy police, officers were called to the Dollar General Store on W. Pleasure St. about 9:30 p.m. in reference to a robbery.

Police spoke with witnesses who said a man dressed as a woman stole merchandise and used a "shank" to demand money.

Employees told officers the man left the store with stolen items and less than $200.

About 20 minutes later, police identified Elbert Johnson, 53, of Augusta as the suspect and found him hiding in some bushes wearing "a leopard print bra and leotard shorts". He ran from officers but was eventually caught.

Johnson was charged with aggravated robbery. He is being held in the White County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

He is due in court on January 7.
