Thanksgiving meal offered to anyone hungry or homeless

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Region 8 residents began working Friday to make this Thanksgiving special for everyone.

Food has begun moving to kitchens in area churches to be cooked Thanksgiving day.

A community Thanksgiving meal will be prepared for anyone who is hungry, homeless or lonely.

The annual event began as a collaborative effort between the First Baptist and First United Methodist Churches.

Now, around eight churches work on Wednesday to prepare Thursday's feast.

"People who work in this thing get a whole lot more out of it than the people who come and take the meal," said Chairman Jim Grisham. "It's just a good feeling when you get home in the afternoon, that you've helped somebody."

They'll begin serving people at St. Bernards Auditorium at 11 a.m.

They hope to begin sending out the delivery meals at 10:30 a.m.
