The Arkansas State women's bowling team finished competition at the Big Red Invite with a tournament-best 11-3 record after going 3-0 Saturday to finish third overall in total pinfall.
The Red Wolves (31-11) began the day with a thrilling 941-939 victory over Valparaiso by mounting a comeback in the final five frames. A-State defeated McKendree 981-952 in its second match of the day and finished the day with an impressive win over Sam Houston State 1,078-936.
Sarah Lokker claimed her second straight tournament MVP and led the Red Wolves Saturday with a total pinfall of 697 for a 232.33 average.
"I'm happy getting the most wins on the weekend despite finishing third in pinfall," A-State women's bowling coach Justin Kostick said. "This was a solid field of teams and I'm proud of Sarah for winning the MVP."
Arkansas State returns to action after the holiday break in its host tournament the Mid-Winter Invitational. The three-day tournament is scheduled for Jan. 17-19 at the Jonesboro Bowling Center.
