PIGGOTT, AR (KAIT) - Christmas came early for one Region 8 Library. The Piggott State Bank donated $20,000 to the Piggott Public Library, in an effort to help it expand.
"It would add to the library as far as parking spots or the ability for the library to add on," said Piggott State Bank CEO Paula Blackwell.
Members of the bank wanted to make sure that the donation was enough, so that the project could be completed.
"We came up with the amount based on the purchase price, and for the demolition of the property," said Piggott State Bank EVP Cody Knight.
Director of the Piggott Library, Gay Johnson, said the donation was more than she could have ever hoped for.
I was excited and stunned," said Johnson. "I was thinking about all the possibilities and I was thankful."
Johnson said that they plan on demolishing the building next door to either add more parking, or to use that land to add on to the library.
