BRPD: Crash kills driver, injures passenger at Cortana near Airline

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A 39-year-old was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single car crash at Cortana Pl. and Florline Blvd., which is near the Sams Club on Airline Highway.

BRPD says a red Jeep driven by Scott Adams flipped over around 3:30 p.m.

Investigators say Adams lost control of the vehicle in a curve, hit a tree near the street and rolled into a parking lot at the Cortana Mall.

It was the only vehicle involved. Baton Rouge EMS says a 16-year-old passenger of the Jeep, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
