Louisiana State Police say troopers will be out in full force, making sure this Thanksgiving travel week remains safe.

State Police continue to monitor road conditions with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

As conditions change, they recommend you be prepared for uncertain driving conditions.

Sgt. James Anderson, of Troop D, has more advice about what travelers can do to make it a safe Thanksgiving holiday.

"People are not allowing enough distance between themselves and other vehicles. We have drivers who are driving too fast or driving and losing control and driving into the median. At one point yesterday, we had three different accidents on I-10 at the same time. Many times those crashes are preventable. If people slow down, allow extra distance and remember to have your headlights on in the rain, those things can make a big difference in reducing the number of crashes," Anderson said.
