JONESBORO (KAIT) - The Broyles Award honors the top assistant coach in college football. For the 2nd straight year, a ASU coach is on the Broyles radar.
Kent Riddle is one of 40 nominees. He's one of two from the Sun Belt to get Broyles nods. Riddle was hired in December as the ASU assistant coach, tight ends coach, and special teams coordinator. Under his leadership, the Red Wolves special teams unit is arguably the best this season in the conference. J.D. McKissic leads the nation in kickoff returns, and they've blocked 3 kicks or punts in the last 4 games.
Former A-State assistant Rhett Lashlee is a Broyles nominee. Like at ASU, he's served as Auburn's offensive coordinator.
The complete list of nominees is below. The 2013 Broyles Award winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Hotel in Little Rock.
