Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.

STARKVILLE, MS (RNN) – The Mississippi State Bulldogs barely survived the tough Jackson State Tigers (2-5) to win 58-56.

The Bulldogs (4-1) were outscored in the first half 23-28 and trailed well into the second half, in large part to 22 points by JSU senior guard Julysses Nobles.

Nobles also missed a long-range 3-pointer to win the game at the end of regulation.

The Bulldogs missed 11 of their first 13 shots and JSU took advantage, getting to 7-0 before MSU made a free throw shot four minutes into the game. But midway through the second frame, the Bulldogs hit their stride, turning a close game into victory by making 61.9 percent of their shots in the second half.

Sophomore guard Craig Sword was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs, finishing with 12 points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Fred Thomas was not far behind with 11 points and six rebounds.

Their slow start shooting begins on the floor - MSU was 20-of-46 from field goal range and 4-of-13 from the 3-point line. Fortunately, JSU never had a lead of more than seven points, making a MSU comeback possible.

The Bulldogs' next game is against the Loyola (IL) Ramblers on Sunday.
