JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Now that Thanksgiving is over, Rudolph and his crew are moving into neighborhoods.
The Sage Meadows Garden Club is preparing to sponsor its annual Christmas lighting contest.
Garden Club President Donna Bandy says club members choose first, second and third place winners for a fierce competition.
"We have a good time. Our community really goes all out. So, it's lots of fun," she said. "Some (displays) are simple. Some are very extravagant. We see runway lights. We see houses totally lit up. We see lots of blowups. Sometimes it looks like a Christmas village. We've even had an airplane and Santa in a helicopter."
Bandy says her community really gets into the Christmas spirit and the competition, making it hard for the judges.
"We drive around and check every yard, every house in the whole subdivision," she said. "By the time you drive around and really look at every neighborhood, and then go back to doublecheck it takes a couple of hours."
Bandy says anyone who wants to participate in the contest should have their displays completed by Thursday, Dec. 5. Judging will take place until Dec. 10 when winners are scheduled to be announced.
