Police make drug arrest during Brown Thursday

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT)- The Newport Police Department managed tosnag a drug arrest during the chaos of  Thanksgivingholiday shopping.

Around 8 p.m. Thanksgiving night, police said a Walmartemployee was pushed to the floor by a crowd who was trying to purchase headphones. The employee had minor injuries and no arrests were made.

In an unrelated incident, officers noticed Charles "Colby" Hammon,25, in Walmart who had an active felony warrant for his arrest. Hammon wasarrested and 3.5 grams of methamphetamine and a digital scale were found in hispossession.

He is being held at the Jackson County Detention Centerwhere he is expected to be charged with possession of a controlled substance(meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
