ETX man detained by authorities following amber alert, mother dead

MARSHALL, TX (KLTV) -

Update (6:59pm): Family friends tell KLTV that the mother of 4-year-old Kylie Dunn is dead.

John Sargent who is the Deacon assigned to St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marshall, Texas tells KLTV in a statement, "The family of Kari Dunn would like to respectfully request our space and time to grieve for the loss of our precious daughter, sister and mother. We are thankful for the show of love and support her family at this time."

Sargent also tell us that Kari Dunn's father is a parishioner of the church.


Update (4:24pm): Authorities confirm with KLTV that the father Brad Allen Dunn, was caught in the city of Linden in Cass County. He has been taken into custody by the Cass County Sheriff's Office. We are being told by Cass County officials that the 4-year-old girl, Kylie Dunn, is safe and is also in police custody.

Brad Dunn has not yet been charged with anything, but we are continuing to follow the details on this story and will have the very latest on KLTV.com


The Amber Alert issued for 4-year-old Kylie Dunn has been discontinued.

The alert was issued Sunday afternoon when authorities say Kylie Dunn was last seen with her father, 35-year-old Brad Allen Dunn. Kylie is described as 3'4" tall weighing around 35lbs with brown eyes and brown hair, and was last seen wearing a purple shirt, jeans and black boots. Brad Dunn is described as 6'2" tall weighing around 240lbs with brown eyes and brown hair and was last seen wearing an orange shirt, dark pants and a black jacket.

Officials believed the two were in a 1998 Ford Expedition with license plate number BST 0761.

Kylie Dunn was believed to be in danger at the time. There is no word at this time on the condition of Kylie Dunn or Brad Dunn.

Records show Dunn has multiple previous arrests out of Gregg County stemming from speeding to assault charges.
