Pre-schoolers collect a thousand pounds of food for Food Bank of NEA

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-  Teachers of a local preschool are getting their students involved with the community.

Children attending Discovery Island Center in Jonesboro have been collecting food for the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas. That food was picked up Tuesday and teachers with the center say the kids have learned a valuable lesson.

Discovery Island Director, Jaclyn Richards, said, "the students are excited to help others. They know how important it is to help others who are in need and are hungry and may not have a meal."

5 year old, Keaton Rogers, said, "cause everybody don't have some because they don't have enough money to buy any."

Students have been collecting food about for two weeks. They raised half a ton of food.
