(RNN) - Vanderbilt starts a five-game home stand against 4-3 Marshall on Thursday night. Both teams are trying to regain their equilibrium after tough road losses.

The Commodores are 4-3 after a 70-64 loss at Texas on Monday – they were within 1 point with a minute to play but couldn't close the deal.

Marshall is coming off a surprise 88-78 road loss at East Tennessee, where they fell behind by 15 in the first half and never got back in the game.

The Herd shot a miserable 6-for-30 from three-point range and made just 18-of-35 free throws against ETSU. Kareem Canty scored 19 points and Ryan Taylor had 10 points and 14 boards in the loss.

Vandy also suffered cold shooting against Texas, hitting just 38 percent from the floor. The ‘Dores also committed 15 turnovers.

Marshall scores 88 points per game, led by Pittman's 23.7 ppg.

Vanderbilt is led by Eric McClellan with 17.6 points per game.
