Entergy Arkansas: 'Complete restoration for all customers by the end of the day Sunday'

Posted: Updated:

(KAIT) - An outage update from Entergy Arkansas Customer Service Manager David Burnette as of 9:13 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013:

Entergy workers started the day to restore service to over 1,000 customers still without power primarily in Mississippi, Crittenden, Poinsett and Cross counties in Eastern Arkansas with high hopes of restoring service to all customers that can take service.

Over 350 workers in the Blytheville network and 150 workers in the Marion network spent a long day repairing a severely damaged system in certain areas.  The high winds contributed to the elevated level of damage to poles and cross arms.   Our men worked hard today, but due to harsh working conditions and site access difficulties because of icy conditions, not all customers had their power restored today.

There are approximately 135 customers still without power in Eastern Poinsett county primarily in and around Tyronza and Birdsong and also in areas in and around Parkin in Eastern Cross and Turrell in Crittenden county.

Also, there are approximately 54 customers still without power in Southern Mississippi county in and around Wilson.

We anticipate complete restoration for all customers by the end of the day Sunday for those who can take service.  There may be a few isolated cases where there is damage to a customer's meter loop which will have to be corrected by the customer before we can reconnect his power.  We have not received any reports of damaged loops but there may be some that have not been noticed and reported by customers.

Any customers without power Sunday should easily see Entergy restoration workers in their area Sunday.  We encourage customers to call 1-800-9OUTAGE to report their outage if they still do not have power by late Sunday afternoon.

There are some pockets that remain with heavy damage to the lines and there is a possibility that a few isolated customers may not be restored.  We will be making every effort to have 100% of our customers restored in these areas.

There has been a lot of men and equipment involved in this restoration and we are blessed that no safety issues have occurred with workers and also customers.

We want to express special thank you's to the various fire, police and hotels in these areas and another big thanks to some farmers who helped us with off -road work.

Above all we thank our customers for their expressions of support, patience, and understanding.
