Steinmetz not running for District 19 seat

John D. Steinmetz John D. Steinmetz
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

John D. Steinmetz has decided not to run for the District 19 congressional seat.

He released this statement on Monday:

For the last several weeks I have been contemplating a run for the Congressional Seat in District 19.

While I agree with many that Washington is headed in the wrong direction, after prayerful consideration the Lord has laid a heavy burden on my heart that I remain in Texas and focused on issues facing West Texas communities.

That being said, I would like to thank my family, friends, statewide/national leaders and fellow Texans for their encouragement and support throughout this process. Your emails, text messages, phone calls and pledged support has meant more to our family than you will ever know.

I look forward to what the future holds and wish you and your family a blessed Christmas season.

It's something that most of us have experienced. You pass a law enforcement officer sitting in their car. They pull out, turn on their blue lights and pull you over. It's almost never good news when that happens right?
