OSCEOLA, AR - The Memphis hospital system that owns Baptist Memorial Hospital at Osceola says the south Mississippi County medical facility will close December 1 unless another operator is found.  K8 News reported the Baptist Healthcare System's plans to consolidate the 25-bed facility with its hospital in Blytheville last month.  The Blytheville hospital currently has 168 beds, and is located 22 miles north of Osceola.

In a new report from The Associated Press, Baptist says it expects the Osceola hospital lose $4 million next year should the facility remain open.

If the institution closes, it would be the first hospital closing in the state in ten years.
