Missouri's Clarkson and Arkansas' Portis earn weekly SEC Basketball honors

Missouri's Jordan Clarkson, a 6-foot-5, 193-pound junior guard from San Antonio, Texas, was named SEC Players of the Week after averaging 23 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in wins over West Virginia and 18th-ranked UCLA. He led the Tigers with 25 points on 52.9 percent (9-of-17) shooting from the field to go with six rebounds, four assists and three steals against West Virginia. Was 3-of-5 from 3-point range on his way to scoring 21 points and dishing out six assists against the Bruins. Clarkson, who has a run of five consecutive games with 20 or more points, topped the 1,000 career points scored mark against UCLA.

Arkansas' Bobby Portis, a 6-foot-10, 242-pound freshman forward from Little Rock, Ark., was named SECFreshman of the Week after averaging 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in wins over SE Louisiana and Clemson. The only player to lead the Razorbacks in both scoring and rebounding in the same game, Portis had 16 points and five rebounds against SELA. He followed that effort with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists in the win over Clemson. He shot 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the field for the week and 90 percent (9-of-10) from the free throw line.
