JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) - Charges against a man involved in a weekend shooting have been upgraded after the man wounded died.

Jeffersonville police say Jeremy Swank, 34, was involved in the shooting of Michael Metcalfe.

Metcalfe, 20, was shot on the night of December 7 at a home in the 800 block of Cherry Street. Metcalfe was found in the basement suffering what was originally believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Metcalfe was taken to University of Louisville Hospital. He was later taken off life support.

After the death of Metcalfe, the original charges against Swank were upgraded to murder and obstruction of justice.

Swank is being held at the Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville on $200,000 bond.

Police say Swank and Metcalfe are related and it appears the shooting stemmed from a disagreement.
