Habitat dedicates new home just in time for Christmas

Habitat for Humanity celebrated the completion of its latest house just in time for Christmas.

There was a dedication ceremony and open house on Wednesday afternoon at the home in the 200 block of South Grand Avenue.

The keys went to Habitat partner family, James and Lindsay Herring and their two children, Cody and Sophia.

"We're just really thankful for everyone that's come out and helped support us, whether it be emotionally or physically to help us get our hours. Thanks to all the different people and businesses to help make a dream, a reality," James said.

The house sponsor is the Evansville Catholic Diocese. 17 churches collaborated and raised $80,000 toward the construction of the new Habitat home.

The Herring family moves in on Saturday.
