Finals Set for 55th Annual WBC Tournament

Walnut Ridge, AR (WBC) – The finals for the 55th annual Williams Baptist College Tournament have been set after semi-final play concluded on Thursday night at Walnut Ridge.

On Wednesday, defending girl's champion Marmaduke rolled past Southside 55-28 to clinch a second straight WBC finals appearance. Cally Price led all scorers in the contest with 12 points for the Lady Greyhounds.

The nightcap featured a boy's contest between fifth seed Maynard and top seed Riverside. The Riverside Rebels pulled away with a 75-63 victory over Maynard's Tigers. Devon Austin led the Rebels with a stand out night of 20 points and 16 rebounds. Kollin Stone added 19 points and Caleb Waugh finished with 15 for Riverside. Colton Watson led all scorers in the contest with 29 points for Maynard and teammate McKenzie Koons put up another 15 points.

Thursday's action featured second seeded Corning's Lady Bobcats against sixth seeded Tuckerman's Lady Bulldogs in the girl's bracket. The Lady Bobcats would hold off a late rally by the Lady Bulldogs to advance to the finals with a 58-47 victory. Becca Young knocked down 26 points, which included eight three pointers, to lead Corning in scoring. Teammate Shayna Casinger added 15 points. Tuckerman was led by Hannah Dilday with 17 points and Deria Ratliffe followed with 10 points of her own.

The finale on Thursday night pitted the Bay Yellowjackets against the Pocahontas Redskins in the boy's bracket. Pocahontas escaped with a 50-47 victory in the high intensity match to advance to the finals. Nick Baltz led a balanced Redskins attack with 12 points and teammate Clark Brewington finished with 11 points. Bay was led by Tyler Pritchett, who posted a game high 22 points.

The finals of the Williams tournament will be played on Wednesday, December 18, in WBC's Southerland Mabee Center. The girl's championship game will start at 6 p.m. and will feature Marmaduke vs. Corning. The boy's championship match will follow at 7:30 p.m. between Riverside and Pocahontas.
