Jonesboro Jaycees hosts annual Christmas for Kids

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Jaycees hosted their annual Christmas for Kids event Saturday, where they passed out toys and food for families in need.

Jaycees has been organizing this giveaway for over two decades, and the event chair, Amber Maurizi, said it's their biggest event of the year.

She added that although their funding is cut this year, they still managed to serve around one-thousand people.

"You don't realize there are people out there that don't have milk," said Maurizi. "So luckily we are able to provide food to people who may not have food at Christmas, so that the impact it's made on us to know that we are giving to people who otherwise wouldn't have."

She said they do this event every year to ensure every family has a meal for Christmas, and every child has at least one toy under their tree.
