New NEA Baptist facility opens up doors to community

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - An open house for the new NEA Baptist facility took place Sunday afternoon. Several people came out to tour the new hospital before it opened up for patients.

"They're able to see the hospital, clinic and our cancer center," said Director of Marketing Deaundra Waddell.

Their cancer center is a place Waddell described as the first of its kind in the area.

"If you need a test, chemo therapy or even just having to meet with your doctor, you can come to that one place and receive everything right there," said Waddell.

The new facility has brought more jobs for people in the community.

"We've been able to hire over 500 positions," said Waddell. "We hired physicians and employees that are doing everything from environmental services to technicians."

It's also helped foster an economic boom.

"You've been able to see restaurant growth and a lot of businesses are starting to relocate out here," said Waddell.

Several of those who came out were in awe at the brand new layout.

"The reaction has just been wow," said Waddell. "Our community is lucky and we're very fortunate to have this type of facility here."

The new facility will open up for service next month.
