BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Mountain Home man has been arrested on multiple charges related to vehicle break-ins and theft.
On Tuesday, Sheriff Sergeant Ken Grayham took a complaint, from a resident of County Road 643, that a vehicle had been broken into and a purse stolen. There were credit cards, a social security card, and other documents in the purse.
Later that same day, another person in the area reported that two muzzle loader rifles had been stolen from his vehicle.
Sergeant Grayham also took a report from a nearby resident, at County Road 1077, saying that she had found credit cards in her son's bed that didn't belong to him. Those cards were in the name of the first victim.
A further search of the residence turned up the stolen muzzle loaders in the suspect's bedroom. The suspect was not present at the time the items were found.
At around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Sheriff's Deputy Chuck Menschik was dispatched to County Road 1077 where the suspect, Alec Robert Johnson, was trying to get inside the house. Deputy Menschik found Johnson and detained him.
Johnson was found to have xanax in his possession also.
He was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $35,000 bond on felony charges of breaking or entering, and theft of property, and misdemeanor charges of theft of property, criminal mischief, possession of schedule VI controlled substance, and probation violation.
Johnson will appear in Circuit Court on December 19.
