BATESVILLE, Ark. (LyonScots.com) – Trailing Riverview by six points in the final minute, the Cave City Cavewomen went on a 10-0 run down the stretch and took a 49-45 victory over Riverview Wednesday night in the girls semifinals of the Lyon College-Mark Martin Automotive High School Invitational at James C. Becknell Gymnasium.
In the boys' semifinal, Cedar Ridge senior Spencer Reaves scored 19 of his game-high 26 points in the final two quarters to lead the Timberwolves to a 73-62 win over Riverview. Cedar Ridge came alive in the second half, outscoring the Raiders, 45-34.
The other two semifinals are now set for Monday, Dec. 23. In the girls' bracket, Melbourne will face Southside at 6 p.m., followed by the Highland boys taking on Pocahontas at 7:15 p.m.
The championship game dates have yet to be determined.
CAVE CITY 49, RIVERVIEW 45
Cave City senior Morgan Miller tied the score against Riverview with a three-pointer with 25 seconds on the clock and senior Jamie Holley drove the length of the court, scored and added the three-point play with 10.2 seconds remaining to help life the Cavewomen past the Lady Raiders, 49-45, and into the championship game. Junior Shyanne Price set up the game-winning score by drawing a charge under her own basket.
After giving Cave City the lead, Holley, who scored a game-high 21 points in the game, stole the ball with six seconds left to seal the win by adding a free throw. Holley scored 12 of her points in the final two periods.
Price added nine points for the Cavewomen, while Miller and junior Elizabeth Upton each dropped in six, Gracen Ratliff pitched in three and Vashti Crick and Morgan Graddy chipped in two points apiece.
Sophomore Erykah Johns paced Riverview with 15 points, while senior Meg Meachum dropped in 10, junior Aryana Watson scored eight, Madison Riley scored five, Alexis Baker had four, Dymond Smith scored two and Kayla Young added one point.
CEDAR RIDGE 73, RIVERVIEW 62
Spencer Reaves hit all 13 of his free throws and a game-high 26 for the game to lead the Timberwolves to a victory. Senior Cole Crabtree scored 17 second-half points and finished right behind Reaves with 25 points.
Sophomore Cade Crabtree added nine points for the ‘Wolves, while junior Nate Easley dropped in eight and Austin Reaves scored five points.
Sophomore Deshawn Lee scored 14 second-half points and led the Raiders with 21 points. Junior Kirklan Pettis dropped in 19, including four three-pointers in the final two quarters. Landon Ramsey finished with nine points, Elijah Baker chipped in four and Easton Puszewski had three points.
