TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Animal Control officers are looking into a reported pit bull attack on the south side, near 22nd and Wilmot.

Tucson Police responded to the 1900 block of S. Rook Avenue Thursday for a man with serious bites on his arm and head.

An officer found the dogs in a nearby alley. Police said the officer had to shot both dogs when they charged at him, according to a news release. Both dogs died and the officer was not hurt.

Animal control was looking into charges against the owner, who is a neighbor of the victim.
