(RNN) - Mississippi State (8-2) picked up a solid, 66-53 home win over Atlantic Sun Conference opponent Florida Gulf Coast and will now travel to the Las Vegas Classic to face South Florida at 8 p.m. ET. Santa Clara and UNLV are the other teams in the tournament, and the tournament will continue on Monday.
Craig Sword continues to lead the Bulldogs offensive attack with 15.5 points per game. Gavin Ware averages 10.7.
The Bulldogs are holding opponents to 64 points per game.
South Florida (8-2) is on a gutty four-game win streak, with three of its wins coming by two points and the other by three. Most recently, the Bulls beat Florida A&M 73-77. Cory Allen Jr. hit a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left to give his team the win.
The Bulls also took a 68-66 overtime win over Florida Gulf Coast during their hot streak.
The Bulls are off to their best start since 2009-2010.
