SYLACAUGA, AL (WBRC) -

Firefighter Lt. Jeff Little was laid to rest in his hometown of Sylacauga Friday.

Little was killed in an arson fire last weekend in Waycross, Ga. Two suspects have been arrested in the case.

Loved ones who spoke to FOX6 says that Little was a stand up guy with a great sense of humor. Friday, hundreds of mourners met at First Assemby of God Church in Sylacauga to honor and remember him.

Little worked with the Waycross Fire Department for 12 years. Before that, he worked at the Childersburg Fire Department for 17 years.

Little was brought home to Alabama Thursday and hundreds of people lined downtown Childersburg to honor him as his funeral procession passed through.

The 50-year-old leaves behind a wife and two sons. His family says the last few days have been difficult but they have been comforted by the outpouring of support from the firefighting community.

"If I had another profession I could choose, I don't know if I would choose firefighting but I sure would like to have some of that brotherhood with them. It's very uplifting," Little's brother, Andrew, said.

"His wife children, they're all holding up real well. We've had constant contact. We've had some of our departmental personnel with them along the way, all the way from Georgia and back, as well as his parents. We've just been on the phone with them. I mean, they're personal friends," Childersburg Fire Capt. Jeff Monroe said.
