LIMESTONE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A capital murder suspect from Limestone County has bonded out of jail.

The Alabama Criminal Court of Appeals ruled Joel Moyers is entitled to bond. Moyers posted a $275,000 bond Friday afternoon.

Moyers' attorneys argued that since the district attorney is not seeking the death penalty, Moyers should be granted bond. The DA plans to ask the appeals court to reconsider the ruling.

Investigators said Moyers killed Brandon Hydrick last year when he and his brother got lost and turned around near Moyers' land.

Moyers said he thought they were intruders and was trying to scare them off by firing a warning shot. The shot struck and killed Hydrick.
