SR49 bridge in Cheatham to be imploded on Monday

Posted: Updated:
ASHLAND CITY, TN (WSMV) -

Construction crews will be bringing down a bridge in Cheatham County next week that was built in the 1930s.

On Monday, the Tennessee Department of Transportation plans to implode the State Route 49 bridge over the Harpeth River in Ashland City.

The bridge will come down sometime between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to make way for the new bridge that's been built beside it.

Traffic on the new bridge will be stopped for a few minutes, until the debris is cleared.
