HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Henrico Police are searching for an armed robber, who took an undisclosed amount of cash from a Food Lion. Police say the robbery happened in the 5300 block of Chamberlayne Road around 9 p.m. Friday.

Otis Stokes visits this Food Lion on Chamberlayne every Saturday. He says word that a man robbed his neighborhood grocery store is startling.

"I mean you know we have to be vigilant about where ever we go I'm always constantly looking around especially this time of year.

Henrico Police say a man dressed in all black, believed to be about 6 feet tall and in his 20's came into the store Friday night just before ten, showed a gun and then snatched cash from an employee and got away on foot.

Emily Watkins shops at the store with her young children. She told NBC12 that she's always on alert.

"You always want to be careful and aware and there are certain gas stations that I would not go to at night by myself," Emily Watkins said.

In light of this recent robbery at this Food Lion most shoppers say that everyone needs to be cautious.

"Give eye contact and let somebody know that you are aware of their being there you know because a lot of people just look off and don't want to be bothered and are on the phone all the time they don't know what is going on," Stokes said.

Police are calling for anyone who may have information that could lead to an arrest. If you have any information you are asked to call crime stoppers at 780-1000
