Community dinner helps feed Jonesboro residents

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Miller's Temple Church of God in Christ in Jonesboro hosted their annual Christmas dinner Tuesday. Church member, Brenda Anderson, said her family started the dinner years ago.

"There are people in our community who have needs," Anderson said. "We just want to show that we care about the neighborhood, we care about Jonesboro and we just want to show Christ love because that's what Christmas is all about."

Since it started, the dinner has continued to grow every year.

"We started off just doing it for the neighborhood, and then it started to get bigger," Anderson said. "We started getting donations from other people and the church."

Anderson said their goal is help out as many people as they can.

"Everybody that wants a plate, they're welcome," Anderson said.

It's a tradition she's been a part of for almost 30 years. She continues to do it all for one specific reason.

"I do it because I feel like it's a calling God has given me," Anderson said. "This is part of our ministry, and this is how we reach out to others."
