JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A Jonesboro man who was arrested in December of last year for rape, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia will appear in court in August for both drug charges, while prosecutors review allegations of rape.

In January of this year, Paul Eldon Richardson, a well-known Jonesboro entertainer, was charged in Craighead County Circuit Court for possessing methamphetamine and “paraphernalia to inject, ingest, inhale, or otherwise introduce into the human body a controlled substance.”

A previous probable cause affidavit filed on December 23, 2013, stated that While Richardson was being arrested for suspicion of rape, officers found “a small baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine” in his front pocket. The affidavit stated, “In another pocket was a glass pipe with a white powdery residue.”

The probable cause affidavit also accused Richardson of sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy eight years before his arrest. The boy’s mother reported the incident to the Crimes Against Children Division with Arkansas State Police, the affidavit stated.

Prosecutors have not officially filed a rape charge against Richardson and the case is under review.

Richardson’s attorney, Randall Miller, said his client was granted a continuance until August 11, 2014 on the drug charges.
